As the regional Financial Controller you will be responsible for all general accounting, budgeting, financial controls, and costs for two business units/ locations in Germany. You will manage the local Finance Team of around 3-4 people and provide support to local management and liaise with senior stakeholders across the global business. This role will report to the European Finance Director.
Key responsibilities
Co-operates with German Authorities and Corporate Finance in order to ensure compliance with local regulations as well as US GAAP and Corporate accounting policies.
Ensures tax and statutory compliance for the legal entity Cummins Deutschland GmbH that require supervision of consolidation of Trail Balances of 2 Business Units
Manages all accounting practices for the plant; conducts the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and forecast processes for the plant.
Works with the BU Controller to apply consistent accounting practices at the plant level, participates in the business as a member of the plant leadership team.
Manages the monthly and quarterly financial reporting process for the plant, including general ledger and subsidiary financial ledgers.
Provides appropriate resources for internal and external financial and process audits.
Implements recommended changes to accounting practices.
Coordinates financial modeling of quotation packages.
Develops and presents reports and analyses to the Plant Manager.
Leads efforts to comply with any governmental or regulatory organization financial requirements of the plant.
Leads the capital management process at the plant level.
Provides business support for the plant in terms of product costing, accounts receivable, inventory control and payroll.
Coaches and mentors all plant general accounting, cost accounting, and finance staff; assigns work according to availability, skills, and developmental needs; assesses performance and provides feedback to direct reports.
Education, Certifications, Experience
College, university, or equivalent degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration required. Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant, Chartered Accountant or similar certification preferred.
Minimum 5 years of managerial and budgetary experience in a small-operations manufacturing environment required.
Relevant working experience in a position of Financial / Plant Controller or Finance Manager in a multinational environment - Preferred
Broad understanding of business needs with excellent analytical and communication skills - Required.
People management & development - Required
Qualified accountant – Required
Chartered Accountant: e.g. ACCA, CIMA, CPA - Required
Knowledge of US GAAP - Preferred
Knowledge of accounting systems (Movex/ Hyperion Preferred)
Broad experience in implementation of accounting systems - Preferred
Language skills – Business fluent German (C1) required
